Data Programmer (the Scripting Typewriter)

I have been a data programmer for a decade now. In this business, there can be a lot of scripting involved. Of all the daily tasks, fixing and manipulating data is the best part of the day.

Several of my colleagues come to me with their scripting needs. That is how I became known as the “Scripting Typewriter”.

I currently work for a corporation. However, I wouldn’t mind making extra cash working on someone else’s data. If you are interested, let me know here.

Websites and Blogs

Blogging is newer to me. Since my college days, creating a website was always somewhere in the back of my mind. It wasn’t until coming across WordPress that I started becoming more involved. Part of me wishes I came across it back then. Instead, my teacher focused on teaching us how to create pages manually(though it still comes in handy) using HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

I grew up in a small town in the central US. The population was less than 4,000, I believe. It was one of those places where almost everyone knew who you were if you lived there. Casey’s was the only gas station when I was younger. And by the time I started middle school, a Kwik Shop was built on the other side of town.

I have been a video gamer for as long as I can remember. I owned several consoles, beginning with the Atari. My favorite games include Final Fantasy, the Elder Scrolls series, Goldeneye 007, Legend of Zelda, Call of Duty, Guild Wars, Diablo, Minecraft, and RollerCoaster Tycoon. The list could go on and on, seriously.

In 2005, after enrolling in a technical school for computer programming, it turned out that many businesses did not need programmers in this city. Go figure.

I entered into fatherhood in 2008 when our son was born. As a new parent, I had no idea what to expect in the years to come. Thirteen years and three kids later, I am sure to have plenty of stories and knowledge to share and entertain you.

Nearly 12 years ago, I realized that I needed to make a change in my life. So I decided to enlist in the National Guard as a culinary specialist. Inherently, fitness has always been a priority. They gave us the tools necessary to get in shape and stay that way. Learning to feed soldiers has given me plenty of information to share about food and cooking.

First and foremost, I continue to support my family to the best of my ability. I am working as a data programmer in the corporate hamster wheel on the civilian side. Also, I continue to serve my country part-time in the National Guard.

I have recently begun my journey towards self-improvement and strengthening my weaknesses.

I used to be a hardcore gamer, playing for five-plus hours without taking a break. If only Twitch was around back then. Writing has never really been my thing, but I have chosen to slow down on gaming and find new outlets to spend my free time. This blog is one of them.

The Future

I am planning for a future to exit the corporate hamster wheel and leave the nine to five behind me. We all know the future is uncertain, and I have not figured out what avenue to take at this time. In conclusion, I hope to discover my purpose in life. Sooner rather than later.
